Hi Corrie, I was just wondering how your Bristol pond project turned out. I purchased some Bristols from Gary in May, and have been enjoying them.

Hi, Corrie, I got it! very clear explanation! I didnt know that when the formalin evaporates, the ammonia comes back (the same for the chloramine). I will add 1 ppm of formalin.

you can delete any message in this part because anybody can read it.

      thank you very much, Corrie!

Martin, I hope you get this.....this is my first time trying this thing
There's not a formula because levels of chloramine fluctuate...
Get a chlorine test kit...and ammonia test kit that will read with Prime/Amquel etc
Use sodium thiosulfate/hypo enough to neutralize the chlorine.
Then formalin to neutralize the ammonia.
You should need very little formalin.

Remember, the chlorine will be gone forever...the ammonia won't
Formalin binds to ammonia...as soon as the formalin evaporates/etc the ammonia will be back...

Treatment levels of formalin will knock your biological filter down...these products rely on that bio filter to take up the ammonia as it's released back into the water.....it can't be enough formalin to knock the filter down....or the products wouldn't work either.

hi Corrie, I was wondering if you know the formula for eliminating chlorine, chloramine and ammonia like Amquel or prime or safe.

I saw a formula (in spanish) but the formalin level is close to common treatments! (17.5ppm per liter treated!!) maybe something is wrong!

the formula uses: formalin, sodium bisulfite, baking soda and destilled water.

      thanks in advance
