The weather is getting cold and I don't have warm space for them. In winter, I have to put them in unheated car garage since my wife has a very good nose. Additionally I don't want them to hibernate if they are under 4" length. Thank you.

I've got some good blues on the azumas, but not all have good head growth. I am impressed with the early headgrowth on your baby ranchu. I focused on peduncles and tails for a long time, but now I am paying more attention to headgrowth.
      Cheers,
      Rob

Hey Truth, I really like the Azuma. The ones I have been breeding are shorter and deeper, like Oranda, I like the longer body on yours. I'll post some pics of this year's keepers soon.

      Best,

buying fish and having them spawn right after buying does not make you a breeder. if you work with these fish and their babies over yrs.and try to get them close to standard similiar to aga standards for instance then you are a breeder. even if you start out with inferior fish continue if you see improvements youll get their

ranchu is one of the most difficult strains to keep. after many yrs of breeding them you still must cull 90% within the first couple of months. my strain is over 30 yrs old and i consider it neither japanese nor chinese but american
