    Hi Sasha,

So is montmorillonite and bentonite essentially the same? Can i use bentonite for the fish? I have some around or should i go specifically for one that says montmorillonite?

    Thanks.

Yes, it is essentially the same clay named after two different locations where it was found. Even though in general it is the same clay, it's composition will very depending on the location. Make sure you use calcium montmorillonite and not sodium montmorillonite. Also it's best if you know or test pH and hardness of the clay before use.
