Fake aquarium plants made up of household items?

    Buy marimos, they are super hardy. I kept mine I complete darkness and it still lived.

    The plants suck away the nitrates as they grow and that will keep the tank fish healthy.

    I've had great success growing plants with L.E.D's

    LEDs are too expensive for me, the success really depends on the light, I had $20 one and all it did was grow diatoms.

    LEDs don't necessarily mean you can't have real plants... You just have to stick to low-light plants like Java fern (I think). Mind, I'm not an expert on low-light plants, but look around the forum or use Google and I'm sure you'll find aquarium plants that are easily maintained by LED lights. :) The fish would far prefer that to anything "homemade", I would think.
