I'm interested to see what others feed their fancies on, what's recommended & is there anything in particular I should be looking at?

    Thanks in advance

your question depends on whether you are a breeder or just trying to groom a goldfish. Raising goldfish from fry to yearlings is a whole different story but if you are like most of us and you just want to keep your fish healthy and allow them to grow than most of us here feed a good sinking pellet food such as the hikari brands or new life spectrum. Many feed gel foods such as repashy soilent green. Stay away from anything flakes or free dried.

I'm definitely not a breeder, just a keeper of fancy goldfish

That's the highest protein I've seen in any food, no wonder you've seen growth, I'm in the UK though

Try the FishScience range. Or, if you have Lionheads / Ranchu / Orandas - just Frozen bloodworm and algae will be fine with a little Hikari purple.

I use Kens mini sticks and am a big fan also. No floating, either, and a nice complement to homemade gel food.

Too much protein will cause constipation.

It seems that you get two sort of goldfish keepers those that feed Hikari and those that don't lol...

The more fish you have to feed, the more expensive the Hikari option looks... Hikari is good, but not worth the cost to me.

Definitely throw in a nod to Ken's, IIRC it was Gary who suggested the earthworm sticks. My fish love them, and Ken's is now offering a mini earthworm stick which I use for juveniles.
I've tried a few other offerings and have been mostly happy. I usually try something new every few months when I reorder.

Oh and you can't beat the price. They also sell Hikari etc so you can also supplement with the commercial brands.

I had some tips on food for one of my other posts. I was told if you want body growth, you need high protein, and if you want long fin growth, high carbs. What do you guys recommend for food for longer fins? I bought the Hikari fancy food in the dark purple bag. I am also interested in gel food as it contains a variety of nutrients for a balanced diet. If anyone here feels like making, freezing, and shipping some or sharing recipes for growing long fins I would be thankful.

Same here. I was just asking about food too. I have some new tosakins and I heard they should be veggie based foods for long fins. Love to see a really good recipe for fin growth ( if there is such a thing).
