Your invited to be part of the 1st annual Goldfish Keepers Online Goldfish Show.

This is a FREE show and all you need to be part of the show is be a member of Goldfish Keepers and be able to take a video of your fish and send it to us.

The video should be at least a minute long and show both the side and top view of the fish. (No matter what type of fish it is).

Registration starts Jan. 1st 2012 and will be open until Feb. 2nd. The fish will be judged on Feb. 3rd & 4th and results will be announced on Sunday Feb.5th.

    These are the classes.
    Top view Ranchu
    Side view Ranchu
    Veiltails
    Ryukin
    Oranda
    Fantail
    Bristols
    Other Single tails
    Other double tails

If there are 3 or more entries of the same type of fish in the "Other" category then a new class will be implemented.
Example: If 3 or more different people enter Pearlscales.

Goldfish Keepers encourages everyone to enter even if you just want to pick up a fantail from any petmart and enter it, this is strictly for FUN and to make the winter months a bit more exciting.

More information will be coming soon.

i would suggest that the threads be for posting fish entries only and that comments should not be made in order to keep the thread clean and preventing the rat holes about keeping techniques, the weather and what we ate for breakfast from polluting the thread. if not the TVR thread will have 3x as many pages as entries.

Sounds fun. Is there a limit to how many fish can a person enter for one category?

I don't think so. I will create a special page to upload the video file and will keep the file until the actual show date.

    lolz

will get back to you for this question...

Due to low interest in participation, we are cancelling the event.

Hey Fred, I think it's a bad time of year to try and do a goldfish show. All the good fish are outside in the cold and aren't looking their best. By mid summer there should be lots of plump and colorful fish to show. Please suggest this event again when the fish are at their best.

I agree with Rob, you should move it much later like late summer/early fall.

Ok, let's try again at summer time. And to check the balance of the fish, video is the best option. It is also easier to take compare to the pic.

    fish show

i think people are afraid to take criticism from certain people on this web site and alot of people may not know how to make a moving picture.three pictures of fish from both sides and the top should be enough.just a thought

i think it got to big and too all-inclusive and then fell off the radar of many.

i was planning on entering a few TVR but kind of forgot and was unclear about the process to be honest.

perhaps it would be better to do a TVR show in fall and see how that goes, then take on another breed. i say TVR just because the TVR keepers on the site seem to be pretty active and more apt to participate based on their competitive breeding and grooming mentality.

it might be a nice wrap up to the study group sessions to have an online show of the study groups CBR as well as the older fish in the group.
