With tosakin, I have heard that great fry can be produced with strict culling and grooming, even if they have not-so-great parents! :) Good luck on your breeding project.

Thank you. From what I have read I assume my fish were grown quickly and fed higher protein to get them big to sell because they have wide noses

I have heard of that as well.

Any high quality, low protein floating foods that you know of? I have Saki Hikari tosakin food but it is a bit high in protein (above 40%) so I would like to give something else instead. I think I might try Omega One floating veggie pellets as it is much lower in protein.

No, not that I can think of. I’m sure you could hand feed them gel food if that’s what you usually feed.

That is true. I give DIY gel food as a supplement, but it bothers me that I don't know the exact percentage of protein, fat, etc in homemade food. So I hesitate to give it as their staple diet.

Yeah that makes sense. From what I’ve read it’s better to have low protein and higher vegetable content.

If I may ask... Does the body shape have a set standard with this type? Our show judge was from the AGA and the Tosakins, Fantails, and Pearlscales went into the special category.

Yes, tosakins have a gradual slope of their back, and from top view, should have a tear drop shape.

You can read more about it here: https://thegoldfishcouncil.org/2016/09/tosakin/

Thank you. Are you planning on purchasing any from the seller?

Thank you so much for posting the side view. I have never EVER seen one from the side. Also I already see the tiny outtie vent on the side view fish. Almost certainly female.
