I recently bought a Marineland canister filter to replace my old Pengiun 150 PF. I rinsed everything, filled it with water from the tank and pumped it to top it off. I had no issues with it other than a lack of instructions regarding one rubber seal for the top. Thankfully, Im not a conplete moron and figured that out on my own. The flow is nearly the same as the Penguin 150, but options for filter media are endless. It fired up without issue and is currently running in tandem with the Penguin until some bacteria build up in the canister. Any tips or suggestions in the meantime?

Not familiar with Marineland canister filters but I like pre-filters on my hob's and canisters. It keeps solids from rotting inside the canister until the next canister service and easy to service at every water change.

I love this canister! I'm running one in my 60 gallon tank and it's like heaven. When I first got mine, I purchased Stability by Seachem. It really helped jump start the process.
