Fish grow, more are added, conditions change, weather, pond and filter maturity, plantings, carpet and string alage growth - all of these things have an effect. If your UV is not clearing green water this year it means it is undersized or the flow rate through it is wrong ... what size UV unit and how many gallons is your pond?

Your UV bulb should be replaced every 6 months.

Actually the uv did little to clear my pond. It wasnt on when the pond started to clear. Looking back i think i cleared out too much of the string algae, had less and smaller water hyacinths, cut down too much of my elodea, installed a new water fall which made me increase water flow.
