    Hi guys and girls
I've just bought 3 Pearlscale gold fish from starfisheries for £300 they are 7 month old and as Andy suggested the are of the highest quality.
I have not seen any photos of these fish as Andy is quite busy getting ready for the opening day at starfisherys
£100 each for a 7 month old gold fish sounds quite pricey to me but let's see what you guys think.

Delivery is this Wednesday and I'd love your opinion on these Pearlscale

I will upload photos day of arrival

    Thanks guys

They have considerably more colour than most pearlscales though they lack the necessary blue. Most are beige!! They will develop if you look after them but that is down to you. They need to be round but also to deport properly.

These fish look like they were UK bred. That means they probably come from a good quality breeder stock that are regularly seen on the show bench. They won't be the best fish the breeder has - the breeder keeps them, unsurprisingly. They are good fish. You need to get blue into the nacreous ones so you will probably need to buy imports and cross them in. That is the joy of starting a line - no one, not even for £500 each, will get show winning breeding stock at 7 months old.

I was told they have been imported from China. A and B are ment to be 2 brothers and C is a female from another farm in China, hand picked by Andy

Martin - no way, they are perfectly fit for purpose. Sure I may be wrong about their origin but when did you last see UK fish with that colour? certainly they need blue added into the nacreous fish, but where is that in the UK? Their finnage is better than most imports (which usually have too long / droopy tail) so there is a lot going for these fish. I doubt you could get close in the UK, but there is still a lot of work to do.

They look like good decent breeding stock. Breed them, if related to each other with any luck you will have a couple better than the parents in their offspring. And in a couple of generations you have a good chance of having better fish than you can buy on the open market. But good luck in keeping all their scales perfect!

Ok thanks for all your input.
Andy from starfishery got back today and has been in contact with me. He wants to give me a few more fish for free as the ones he sent got damages in transit. I thought that was very fair for him to do so.

Just must take good care of the offspring make sure them scales don't get knocked off

Shipping damage is always a risk. I think Andy giving you more fish is absolutely honorable, and I think the fish you got are good. Pearlscales in particular are always susceptible to getting scales knocked off.

I found it a pleasure dealing with Andy from star fisheries. I would most definitely recommend them and I will continue to use them in the future.
