Can there be a ranchu that has the hump of a ryukin and have no dorsal fin? I would expect health and balance issues, but is it possible?

This is what I found when I typed in "nankin goldfish" on Google:

Some of the other pictures shown had less defined humps, but this one seems to be almost exactly what you described @GoldenMcNewbie (minus wen-growth). Did you mean something like that but with the wider head and wen of a ranchu?

More like the high hump of a standard ryukin.

Not sure why you are asking but if the photo is representative it tells you all you need to know about deportment.

I don't know why laidoka decided to bump the thread. I already knew about the nankin.

To "bump" a thread just means to add a comment so it will appear again as a more recent thread so it gets more attention and more commenters, right? Wouldn't that be considered a good thing?

The nankin is a very old breed of goldfish not really produced here in the States. It is the closet thing I could think regarding a ranchu with hump though the nankins usually do not develop head growth

Some members are trying to find a way to import some in the USA. A few nankins have actually been imported but waiting to see how this project develops.

I think you are referring to his previous import. He sold a batch of these fish a month ago or so.
