    Hello,

So I picked up this little guy/girl (maybe someone can help me sex it, not my strongest point with fish!) and was wondering what people thought? Has got me loving Ranchu and am thinking about getting some more and breeding them. Is it worth doing with this particular specimen? I'm not sure on it's age but it has been improving in colour since I brought it home from the LFS!

Thanks :) I am currently feeding bloodworm once a day but will try and get this up to at least twice. Also may up the quantity as they seem to eat it all in well under a minute, I am only feeding one block at a time for 3 fish, is that right?

Nice curvature of the back and good tail set! Great find! It's always do exciting to find a gem like that at a LFS...like finding a priceless antique at a jumble sale. Well done! You should be chuffed!

    I am also feeding:

    Saki Hikari Fancy Goldfish
    Saki Hikari Lionhead
    Shelled Peas

I give them one of the above pellets at least once a day and the pea's a couple of times a week. I upped the bloodworm blocks to 2 this afternoon and it was all gone after 3-5 minutes!

You are doing good.. Do a lot of water change and let see the progress in a month..

**I wouldn't feed Hikari Fancy due to floating issue.

I am doing 30%-50% once a week, is this enough? Will stop with the Fancy food, hadn't read it could cause swimbladder problems, I always soak the food for 10 mins before feeding.

I would do at least 80% weekly. It is a basic requirement for successful goldfish keeping. Not a big fan of soaking food, it will leak necessary nutrient. Most likely floating food will cause the SBD issue. Better prevent than sorry

Ok I will up my water change regime, might look to do 50% twice a week. Also not having to soak the foods means I can get an auto feeder for when I'm at work and get 2x pellet and 2x bloodworm a day.

    Thanks for the advice.

Ok, so a quick update a month on, have been feeding bloodworm twice a day and Hikari Lionhead twice a day when I am at work using auto feeder, as well as 2 x 50% water changes per week have seen some development in the wen. Hopefully given another 2 or 3 months it will be about where it should be!

    Try this for wen growth

Continue doing what you are doing for 10 ten days and on day 11 and 12 feed nothing and see if the wen pops!
