The AGA, in conjunction with the Midwest Pond & Koi Society (MPKS) is hosting the National Goldfish show at the Darien Sportsplex, in Darien Illinois (a suburb of Chicago) on July 10 - 12, 2009. In addition to the goldfish competition, there will be seminars, public goldfish judging, a review of the new goldfish standards and an awards banquet. Saturday, July 11, 2009
11:00 AM – 11:45 AM – AGA Revised Goldfish Breed Standard and Public Slide Judging– Ranchu; Peter Ponzio
12:30 PM – 1:45 PM – Public Koi Judging from Slides; AKCA Judge Bryan Bateman and AKCA Judge Steve Childers
2:00 PM – 3:30 PM – Keynote Speaker, Joe Pawlak, Blackwater Creek Koi Farm
3:45 – 4:30 – AGA Revised Goldfish Breed Standards and Public Slide Judging– Ryukin; Peter Ponzio

11:15 AM – 12:00 PM – Public walk-thru of show goldfish – AGA Judges Art & Nicole Lembke
12:15 PM – 1:00 PM – Public judging of live goldfish – AGA Judges Art & Nicole Lembke
1:30PM – 2:15 PM – Public judging of live koi – AKCA Judge Steve Childers
2:30 PM – 3:15 PM – AGA Revised Goldfish Breed Standard and Public Slide Judging– Other Varieties, Jikin, Wakin, Phoenix; Peter Ponzio



Bruce, Lari, Dan and myself will attend the show. As a vendor, Paul will be there. AK47 will stop by for awhile too.

Our agenda..
1. taking a lot of pictures..
2. talking about goldfish for the whole day (TVR, SVR, Ryukin.. blah blah..)
3. Putting some fish into show.

Midway might be closest, but O'Hare is probably a better option price wise I'd guess.

I will be there on Sat. Looking forward to hearing Peter talk on ranchus. Fred I will be the short, fat, bald guy with a large grin on his face and hopefully a bag of newly purchased Ranchus in his hand.:exact:

Hey Guys,

Do you know if there is worth while show on the west coast to be at? I do not mind to travel if I can get a cheap last minute ticket and hotel from Hawaii.
This one mentioned seems to be good as far as lots of classes for information...will there be much fish to see or buy?

Are there lots of exhibits and goldfish to see?


I have never been to one so, I would not know what to expect. Any website with past photos?

You might want to share a hotel room w/ somebody. Check with Paul. He said his family cannot come to show as he planned.
I rent a car already. I might be able to pick u up from the airport.

I now will not be able to make it...my wifes family will be arriving on the 9th. I am told I need to be here.

I hope to really make it to the breeders Social. Maybe next year.

It's in Portland OR and on July25,and 26th. I am planning on attending this year.

If anyone needs a ride to and from hotels, etc, just holler. Those of us from the area (me, and a few others) will be happy to ferry you around as needed.

The show is set up. I am about to begin packing fish in a couple of hours and be there to check fish in. Peter P. should be there at noon.

I am hoping to pick up a couple of sweet little Ranchu from Paul.....
