Summer(late May - early August) is the only time I get to work in my yard the whole year, so when it comes around I get to play!!

This year I have been hard at it. So far I've built a small garden, 2 flower beds and cleaned up my berry patch. Next, I plan on digging a space for a small pond.

Anyway, I took a bunch of pictures of flowers around my yard and thought I'd share. Enjoy!

My mom and I put the flower bed in front of the walk a couple weeks ago. It's filling nicely.

Your flowers are beautiful, Abby! You should frame those photos. Do you have any groundhogs around? I have a family living under my shed and they ATE all my flowers!

BTW...Your litttle boy is adorable!!!

Thanks Jed :D

No groundhogs or large rodents around here, except for rabbits but they don't live in my neighborhood. Gets much too cold in the winter for anything to survive.

Although I did have a moose and her calf standing in my berry patch the other morning. I think they ate some of my lilacs. We do have watch out for them.

You need to take a picture of that moose! I would love to see it. I'm trying to get info on getting rid of them. I don't want to kill them. My flowers were so pretty and now it's a blank canvas. They left the stems for me to clean up. lol

You are in luck Jed! Just this evening while I was eating dinner I looked out the window to the back yard and saw a giant moose butt! I stood up and saw her little red calf too. They were drinking out of the kiddy pool that can be seen above in my sons pictures.

The little calf tore up my garden and nearly knocked down the fence.

I got a few pictures and I'll post them tomorrow at work.

Sorry to hear about the destruction they have caused you, but I can't wait to see those pictures!

He (I think its a he, lol) didn't do too much damage. I had just watered the garden and in between the rows were some small puddles. The past few days have been really hot (80*F High) and I'm pretty sure the little guy was only trying to get a drink out of the puddle. He and his mom were both panting. I startled him and he jumped the fence and bent it up pretty good, but he didn't break it.

Anyway, on with the pictures!!!

Thanks for the compliments everyone! It has been moose heaven around here! The two pictured above have been hanging out around my neighborhood for days now, although I haven't taken any new pictures. A larger male also showed up last night. His antlers were starting to bud. A different mother was wandering around in the woods with twins too.

I'll get some more pics if any of them decide to show up :)

Wow, the splashing water in the first pic of your son looks amazing. I'm in the market for a new camera. What kind do you use?

All of the pics in this thread were taken with a Nikon D60 DSLR. It's far from the best DSLR camera out there, but I love it.

They are back again this year, a lot earlier though. I saw momma moose near my bedroom window munching on the grass which is just starting to come in and then baby came in later around the other side of the house.

Great shots, Abby! These moose look like they are used to being photographed. How close can you get to them? Or were they unaware of you?

Mommy moose is pretty protective of her little one so I couldn't get too close. These pics were taken through my bedroom and kitchen windows. They noticed me, but didn't seem to be too bothered by my presence.

Great shots again, Abby! I'm wondering if these are the same ones from last year? Now, we have black bear sightings in the area. It's amazing because my area isn't wooded.
