As many of you may now I am fairly new to ranchu keeping, and have some questions regarding ranchu.

What's the life expectancy of a ranchu?
How big can ranchu grow ?
What the ideal gallons needed per fish to achieve maximum growth?

Can you guys please show me some of you're biggest ranchu. And share some of you're secrets to grooming them.

Thank you

Why this hang up on size? Quality is more important! 8 inches is large for a Ranchu, bigger than that they can become coarse and ugly.

One reason your ranchu lived to the ripe old age of 12 is probably because it was not too big. Six inches in the body is a good size, but not huge for a ranchu. As with people, the really big ones generally don't live as long.

You got some real nice SVR. Ever thought of trying TVR? You'd make a fine TVR breeder.

Antonio... when we feed peas we first put them in a salad bowl with a coupla tablespoons of water and micro for a minute. Then peal each one to get the hull off. Peal one, eat one, peal one, eat one, peal one, eat one......... >:)

You do this with the frozen ones? How about the ones that come in the can?

Be sure to remove skin from the peas to prevent any possible digestive problems:exact:

You guys asking about SVR and and if he ever grew TVR. You Guys, this is the famous Japanese SVR breeder John Hubschman. He has been breeding Ranchui for over 30 years.

You all should be asking him hjow to group all Ranchu's as his US methdds are the best in the west. If you ask nicely he may even reveal i=his microwave food recipe....
Very atypical classic Japanese technology but been breeding Ranchu since before most of this page got out of grade scholl.

He also has the best stories in the hobby, this is a famous guy in our presence, and most of you are missing the education!

Thx John H ( Hubs):exact::exact:
