There are two people here, not allowed to answer that.....
.....you know who you are. :-*
Someone check my math:
"L" shaped pond.
One leg 20ft
one leg 30ft
10ft wide
~ 30 inches deep
Inches divided by 231
How many gallons did you get?

7480G by my calculation.

I came up with 9,355 gallons

7480. :) :)

I thought it was going to be about 9,000 something,
but I couldn't get my calculator to do it!
thanks guys!
The new pond will be around that amount.

calculate as two saperate ponds and add it at the end which will make your life easier.
30'x 10' (first pond)
10'x 10' (secnod pond)

The second pond is 20X10.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I broke it into 2 ponds one was
30' x 10' x 30"
360" x 120" x 30"
Then I used a rectangle tank volume calculator and it gave me 5,610 gallons.
pond #2
20' x 10' x 30"
240" x 120" x 30"
The volume calculator gave me 3,740
5610 + 3740= 9350
Corrie

5610 + 3740= 9350
That's it.
You don't want to know what I was doing wrong!
I was multiplying 20 (240") X 30 (360") first! LOL

Look at the attachment,
pond 1 (red color ) is 30 x 10
pond 2 (blud) is 10 x 10
If you calculate pond 2 as 20 x 10, you are adding extra 10' from red area.
:)

^or two of 20x10 placed next to each other to make an L shape.

O.K. thanks now I get it.
It's a good thing I don't work at a bank I would give it all away.

nope
The back side of the "L" is 30 X 30
10 ft wide
You can calculate one leg as 30 X 10
The other leg is 20 X 10, which is minus the 10 ft wide.

A 20x10x2.5 is 3745 gallons
A 30x10x2.5 is 5624 gallons
Unless it is shaped like Fred's drawing, then he is right.
Corrie

Yep, it's going to be around 10,000 gal.
It's shaped like Fred's drawing, one 10X30 and one 10X20, about 3ft deep.
suphi

If it's like Fred's drawing then it should be 7480G.
x
x
x x
Think of X as 10x10. One side has 3x, the other side 2x (L-shape). One block of x = 1870G, multiply by 4 = 7480.

and I thought I was math challenged >:D<
It's like Fred's drawing, only different.
Both legs of the "L" are the same length - 30ft.
It's going to be right at 10,000 gal, can't wait to do the first water change!:yess:

Nice.
So my numbers were right. I got lucky.
O.K. Corrie no more trick questions or "L" shaped ponds.

If I could recognize a trick question, I wouldn't have had to ask!
Can you tell I'm trying to squeeze the most water into that spot?
The only place I can fit a decent pond is to wrap it around a patio.

Sounds like it's going to be one hell of a pond.
Do us a favor and post pictures of the project please.
Maybe you can get a Manatee to swim around in that pond, paint it orange
and tell people it's a GIANT ranchu.:confuse:

Corrie........... Do you have something to do with the manatee?
Corrie

nope, well sorta I guess
Those guys live in our backyard all the time.

I'm trying to hit a even number, because it's easier for me to remember and treat with meds.
32 inches deep will give me almost exactly 10,000 gal.

8475 gal as separate legs, take cubic feet and multiply by7.5
This will a crazy nice size gold fish pond, good luck.
