Hi,
I am looking for a new pump for my HOB W/D. Since it is HOB I cannot put a big pump in it. Is there any small size / high gph (300) pump in the market? Thanks.

I like the pondmaster pumps. Pretty sure they have one with that low a flow. Also Danner is another name brand but the same pump pretty much

How about a Rio 1000? These should come with some kind of mounting bracket with suction cups so you can mount it on the side of the tank or on the bottom.

Luckily my old pump decides to work and don't need to buy a new one anymore. Thanks everyone.

Try looking at the Eugene Danner magdrives or Rainbow lifeguard quite ones.

I've been happy with both but the last round of pumps went to rainbow.

Rios are ok but I see more burnt out rios than any other brand.

Danner mag drives can live almost forever, but only if they are properly maintained. The volute and impeller will start to wear but the pump will still function. However, if the volute and /or impeller assembly are not replaced early (well before they wear out completely) the impeller wobble will start to eat away at the pump housing. Once the pump housing (the walls of the hole where the impeller sits) is deformed the impeller assembly is prone to binding, the life of the new impeller assembly is shortened, and the problem becomes worse over time. Finally, impeller and volute replacement becomes ineffective, and the pump will chatter - if you can get it to run at all. I also found that while these things can run in either a submerged or open-air application, if you let it become buried in mud it will over-heat and burn out the windings.

Keeping sand out is key. If you get a sand containing magnetite in the pump it's all over.

Burring it in mud sounds like an early grave too.
