View Full Version : I had to share this 150 gallon tank.
The tank isn't mine, but I couldn't stop looking at the video. Again, it's a 150-gallon tank with a 500 gallon sump.

I love it.
This is one of those things you can point to when a parrot on a forum squawks "you can only have one goldfish per 10,20,30,40 or even 50 gallons" and goldfish need exactly 78 degrees."
I just love it when people who know what they are doing can show another way of doing things that works better than what someone read somewhere and sticks to like it's a religion.
Thanks for the post Jed.
We should track this person down and get them to join.

The owner of that tank is a member on Rafflesgold. Can't remember their username, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. I remember seeing this tank somewhat recently over there. Wow... 650 gallons to devote to goldfish. I wish I were so lucky :D

How many gallons do you have devoted?
My pond is 1600 gallon, my outside holding system is 2,000, my outside quarantine system is 800, my inside quarantine is 500, my small tank system is 800, my large tank system 500 and my Tanganyikan system is 500 gallons.
This winter I'm removing about 90x 5 gallon tanks and replacing them with 75 gallon or 125 gallon tanks.
Always something new to build.

Ah Veryl. I remember he has/had one of the most gorgeus hamanishikis I've ever seen. Living in a Brooklyn apartment, I'm happy for the 100 gallons I do have. I'll be upgrading to a 150 in a few months when this lease is up though.

I wish I could live in a place like yours. Not in a crowded NYC place. We assumed we have big back yard when we have 15'x10' land in the back of the house.
I would like to visit your place as goldfish trip as well. :D

NYC has it's advantages too!
I could live there someday.
Are there any good goldfish sources in China Town? I've heard stories of places that are now out of business but there's got to be something worth visiting right?

Yes, NYC has a bunch of advantages which you getting tired after awhile. For me, I don't even want to go to Manhattan for over crowded.
Yes, China Town has some fish stores but there is only one store that carries quality fish.
For visitor, NY has a lot of place to visit, you will not regret. :)

Fred, if you're finding good quality fish at LFS in New York, you must not be going to the same places as I do. I have 7 tanks... Only one is goldfish :silent:
I love that large frog head, this person obvious keeps excellent water conditions with that large of a fish load but everyone looks really healthy

You should go to Pacific @ Delancy St.

It's the 500 gallon sump.
I sent him a pm from RG. Let's see if he joins. Would love for him to share is experience and knowledge with us...

Psssh... Do you remember the tank of 800 dollar ranchu they used to have up front? They do get some really quality ranchu/lionhead in at times, but all of their other fish are generally pretty low grade. To be honest, the only nice goldies I've ever seen in a LFS have always been ranchu.

Can someone tell me please what's LFS? Also is the store in Delancey still there? Thanks.
