Awards for ARS show in Sept

Here are a few pics of the carvings that will be the class awards for the ARS (American Ranchu Society) judged show in the fall. These are handcarved by bigbettadan's father-in-law. Very nice!

Very cool! Some of the best details (imo) are the gills under the head. Only a true artist will spend time on details that are on the underneath of a peice!

I would love to see a scale pattern etched into the body. It would look neat to rub gold leaf into that scale pattern, too.

He is working on scales for mine. :yess:

But to keep it affordable for the ARS show, I did not want to take advantage of him and ask him to do that for $30 each.

Still he is a prefectionist. His working on 2 now that are improvements of these 2 with the tail. Considering all he had to go on were line drawings, and seeing my actual fish, it is quite a accomplishment.

Actually, they wil be awarded to best Oya, Nisai, Tosai, and owner bred classes.... So 4 chances to win!
