Hey everyone. One of my oranda's has developed dropsy. I have put him in a quarantine tank with 3% salt. He bloated up and hasn't gone down yet. It's been about three days. Can I put maracyn in with the salt water or will it effect the medicine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Regards,
Jesse

Euthanize it, that's the humane thing to do.

I agree...freeze it or use close oil to put to sleep...Fish never truly recover from dropsy

But many of them get miss treated with all sorts of drugs...

Please kill me before treating me with a little of this or that. Good thing Oregon is a death with dignity state but before it comes to that, Oregon is also a medical marijuana state...

Sometimes a humane death is the best thing for the animal. It takes a very caring person to realize this and not to prolong its misery.

symptoms of dropsy i.e. extended scales, bloated, etc can come from many sources and is sometimes hard to identify. If the fish is still active I would purchase metro meds from goldfish connection. I have very good results using at the first signs of dropsy. however if your fish is very lethargic and is not doing well i would euthanize it as the other have suggested

I have purchased metro meds and had great success with them on early dropsy. Once they are fully bloated and scales sticking out, its time to put them down. It's the humaine thing to do sadly.
