When you see fish try to shake something off from their head or fins, what does that tell you? However, no scratching against any objects in the tank and no flashing.

Fish doesnt swimming around much, stand still (kind of floating alittle) in the mid level of the tank, with body slightly lay on one side. The gill plate moves fanatically for one or two seconds, then its movement come back to normal with much slower rate.

What would you guys think this is? fluke or parasite or bacteria infection?

It sounds like flukes. Try aqua prazi from goldfishconnection.com to get rid of any parasites especially fluke. Then treat for bacterial infection. Hope ur fish feels better.

Finally, someone replys my post. Thanks

I have been treating the tank with salt (0.3%) and Prazi for more than a week and the treatment is continue. I plan to continue the treatment for at least another week.

The fish seems better, but the weird swimming posture is still occur sometimes, in addition, some buttom sitting in occasion.

I guess overstocking a GF tank and buying LFS fish at the same is really a bad idea afterall.

I had a slightly similar problem with one of my black ranchus that I got from a lfs. He would just stand still with his head down - although it's weird that during feeding time he would act like the other fishes. He also had like a reddish thing under one of his scale and some wasting in his wen before. After one week of prazi treatment he was good except when the aquarium light is off he would stay still in one place. I'm hoping he will outgrow it or recuperate later. But otherwise he seems very healthy and always have a very good appetite.

Anyway I hope ur fish feels better. Are u using the fluke tabs? Or aqua prazi?

Have you thought about internal parasite cause such symptom? One of my ranchus is started the same pasture again while salt and prazi are still present in the water. Now he is kinda stay at top of the tank while witht he light on and he will go to the buttom and stay there when the light is off. He doesn't eat as much as used to.

I had one lionhead died from dropsy cuz all his scales stood up. I'm not sure rest of my fish would get it eventually.

I forgot to add that I was feeding him medigold while he was getting the salt and prazi treatment. He's cured now just sometimes he would swim still with his head down. Are u treating the whole tank or just ur sick one? I would treat the whole tank too - just in case one of ur other gf has flukes too. I read somewhere that fluke is very common especially among Petshop fish. After the fluke treatment don't forget to treat for bacteria.

I have been treating my main tank with salt and prazi. Do you think I should start feed all the fish with Metro-Med? I didn't get Metigold, not sure if Metro-Med would work.

Metromed cures hole in the head, skinny goldfish (but has normal apetite) and first sign of dropsy.

Medigold is for bacterial and fungal infection/disease. I used this to quarantine my fishes.

Are u trying to treat for dropsy?

Yeah, one of the fish started to developing stick up scales and his belly seems unusually big.

The Metromed states it treats dropsy.
