Very nice set up and fish! Can you share some of the specifics on tank size, number and maybe filtration?
Are the fish in photo 38 (the solid orange, top view, right after the BEP photo) English Fantails, or are they Tosakin?
Thanks for sharing!

All the fish look good and very healthy. Nice butterflies and Bristols and Ranchus. How big is your fish house, and are your tanks 29 gallons (for the adults?) Looks like 29s on the bottom and 10s (or maybe 20 longs) above. And are your tubs 18 gallons or 30 gallons? Just admiring and wondering.... :) Carolyn

My shed/fishhouse is 150 square feet (15 x 10). Four Laguna tubs of about 100 gallons each are on insulation sheets of 1.5 inch on the concrete floor. On the shelf, I've got another similar tub in one corner and the rest are tanks: 7 x 33gallons, 1 x 55 gallons, 1 x 40 gallon breeder and 1 x 30 gallon breeder. They all drain to a 20 gallon tank (collector) where I've put a 1800 gph pump split by a T, half going back to filling the tanks/tubs and half to a wet/dry on the top shelf. The W/D drains back to the 20 gallon collector. As my load is quite high, I added an old fluval canister to the collector. The fluval draws water from the collector and returns it after passing through a UV sterilizer.
The fish you've mentioned are Tosakins (photo 48, not 38).

Thanks! I'm quite happy with my fish. See above specifics.

Beautiful setup, Gerard. How do you heat it, and to what temperature?

Hi Sabine,
At the top of picture 1728, there is a yellow garage heater that you may see in a corner of the shed. This heater is linked to a regular knob thermostat set to its minimum right now but the shed is at 12-13 C which is 55F (outside temperature is still a few degrees above and below freezing point). I brought electricity from the house and split to both 110V and 220V. The heater is on the 220V.

Gerard,
Very nice, thanks so much for posting this! Learned much just by knowing your setup.
How do you do water changes? >:)

I have a garden hose running from my house outdoor faucet, through a conduit I buried about 2 feet underground, to my "fish house". At the fish house end, the hose is connected to an outdoor faucet which however flows in the opposite direction into the fish house. Inside, it is connected to the same distribution network as the one connected to my pump/collector tank, etc. (In a previous post I mentioned a collector tank in which there is a pump which is connected to a T, 50% feeding my wet/dry and 50% filling the tanks and tubs). That's the same network which is protected by a check valve and a valve to prevent contamination of my house water network.

So, I open one main valve to empty part of the system, turn off pump and open valve allowing water from the house to fill until overflow is reached.
