We have a 120 in the garage and will be moving it into the house soon to set up. It has one hole drilled about 4" from the top on the back and another hole in the bottom in the middle front to back and about 1/3 the length to one side. I'm not sure how to utilize the hole in the bottom. I'd rather not have an ugly stand pipe sticking up. I could use it for just a drain and return the water over the edge to a spraybar. I have a dual hose skimmer box that I could use or will the single hose gravity flow from the drilled hole be enough water. Or should I utilize both? Thinking I'll shoot for about 1500gph if that is ok with this arrangement. Or use the skimmer box for 'out' and the upper drilled hole for 'in' to a spray bar?
I have several tanks I can make into a w/d but have some questions about building it. I'll probably use one of the 29s I have setting around. First question is how do you cut the plexi to get smooth edges? What thickness plexi works best, 1/4"?? Im thinking of having two boi boxes of bio balls or other media with matala above it resting on grating above the media. Then having the water exit thru more matala to the pump sump. Back to the tank passing thru an inline 25w UV.
I'm obviously a neophite when it comes to wet/dry systems and need all the help I can get. lol

Bruce, you score and break the plexiglass to get a straight, clean edge. They make a special tool for scoring it, but just about anything sharp will work. Align the score line on the edge of a table and press down on the overhanging portion to snap it off. It is more of a snapping motion rather then using slow steady pressure.
